Venue:
St Edmund Campion Church Hall, Castle Lane West (in front of Castlepoint), Bournemouth, BH8 9TN.

Class sizes are limited, and tend to book up quickly, so book now to avoid disappointment.

Please see below for brief descriptions of each of the courses, or alternatively, go to each course's relevant page to read a fuller description. Each course is run over a six week period. They are all very well structured courses, devised and written by Katie, who has used her years of experience of running training classes to give both dogs and owners a very rewarding training experience. From September, everyone attending a course will be given a training manual (there's a different one for each course), which is written by Katie and will fully complement and support all training given during the course. Beware - the training manuals also include homework!

Puppy Course
At Kadarow, we pride ourselves in being able to help give puppies the best start in life. Our comprehensive Puppy Course is especially tailored for young pups from around 11/12 weeks up to around 24 weeks of age.
It's a well structured 6 week course during which all the puppy basics are covered, including basic commands (sit, down, stand, come, leave, wait, stay, etc), puppy health and well-being, safe and controlled socialisation with other pups, handling and inspection, road-walking, puppy retrieve, and plenty of fun games through which you and your pup will learn even more. We ask that all pups have had their second lot of jabs before attending classes (usually around 11 or 12 weeks of age).
We only use positive, reward-based training, as it is crucial that the puppies enjoy their training. We help to teach the basic positions (sit, down and stand) as well as how to train your pup to walk nicely on lead, along with other basic commands, such as the recall, wait, stay and leave, but a far greater emphasis is placed upon socialisation. We feel it is crucial that a dog is properly socialised from a very young age, as this, along with the teaching of the basic commands, helps to ensure that the dog grows up to be happy and well-adjusted.

Beginner Course
A course for puppies that have completed the puppy course and for all beginner dogs over six months of age, whether they've done the puppy course or not.
The Beginner Course teaches all the basics of obedience training, as well as many vital socialisation aspects and responsible dog ownership. Modules include: basic positions, walking on lead (including road walking), come back when called, handling and inspection, basic first aid for dogs, door/gate control, food manners, the retrieve, the stay, coming away from distraction, and much more, including some fun and games to keep the dogs excited and interested in their training.
Once the dogs have been taught the three basic positions, SIT, DOWN and STAND, these invaluable skills can be used when grooming, teeth cleaning, nail clipping, veterinary visits etc. Hygiene, cleanliness, inspection and handling are also modules within our Puppy, Beginner and Young Handler courses.

Young Handler Course
This is a unique course, designed especially for young handlers between the ages of 8 and 16. It's open to dogs of any age, from about six months and up (very young pups would usually be better suited to doing the Puppy Course first).
Through Katie's patient and friendly tutoring, young handlers will be taught the skills, and given the confidence, to train their own dogs. Throughout her years as a dog trainer, Katie has always encouraged children to be involved in the training of their family pet. Katie has a huge affinity with children and the old adage of "Never work with children and animals" certainly doesn't ring true for her! She wants to be able to give young handlers the time and attention they deserve, so is now offering this unique and comprehensive course for children between the ages of 8 and 16. The training manual that Katie has written for this course (which she gives out on the first week) is also especially written with young handlers in mind.

Intermediate Course
A course for older, more experienced dogs that have mastered the basics. Ideally, before commencing this course, dogs will have attended the Beginner course. However, even if your dog hasn’t done the Beginner course and you feel your dog would be suited to the Intermediate course, please feel free to contact Katie to enquire about booking onto this course.
This course is designed to polish the skills learned on the Beginner Course. It literally takes everything to the next level, and more will be expected of both you and your dog.

Advanced Course
For very advanced dogs who have completed the Intermediate Course. Again, even if your dog hasn’t done the Intermediate course and you feel your dog would be suited to the Advanced course, please feel free to contact Katie to enquire about booking onto this course.
Many, many dogs enjoy the new and challenging aspects of training that the Advanced level brings, including modules such as the “send-away” the “emergency stop”, “scent work” and the “out of sight stay”.
